Investigación para el Desarrollo aims to provide high quality analysis and evidence-based research to Paraguay’s decision-makers. We are building a reputation as an independent source of evidence, operating in a sustainable manner, emphasizing transparency, participation, and accountability.

Investigación para el Desarrollo (ID) seeks to contribute to knowledge and to influence the design of public policies in the area of economic and social development. ID’s research projects cover a wide number of topics, from agricultural economics and income distribution to education, governance, and decentralization.

ID’s applied research is designed to address the reality of Paraguay’s economic and social policies and to strengthen the ability of policies to exploit global opportunities by promoting inclusive economic growth. Its investigations generate analytical models that contribute to the design and evaluation of sustainable development policies. Its researchers publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals and make presentations at international academic forums.

In addition to its research, ID provides valuable training that is helping Paraguay overcome one of the lowest rates of skilled human resources on the continent. It provides post-graduate training in social development and management to staff of national development institutions. It also provides focused, short-term executive training to senior managers in the public and private sectors.

ID also facilitates institutional strengthening of Paraguayan development organizations by providing advisory services on comprehensive organizational development and promoting innovation in development management. In addition, it conducts a bi-annual competition for its award for innovation in development management.
