The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) is an independent, not-for-profit, non-governmental policy research institution. The Foundation's overall objective is to build capacity in economic and social policy analysis and development management. Its broad areas of engagement include short- and long-term research, commissioned studies, training, and the facilitation of policy dialogue.
Thematically, ESRF focuses on social and economic reforms that work toward achieving Tanzania’s national Vision 2025. The emphasis is on growth and wealth creation, governance, social services and quality of life, and globalization and regional integration.
ESRF engages with policymakers and the policy process in several ways, including hosting the Tanzanian government’s website, producing the Tanzanian chapter of the African Economic Outlook for the African Development Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and collaborating with Research on Poverty Alleviation to monitor progress toward Tanzania’s Vision 2025.
