CSTEP aims to inform India’s and science and technology policy agenda by delivering high quality research results and outputs to policymakers and the public. It carries out research in three main areas: energy and environment, infrastructure, and emergency and disaster management.

CSTEP’s multidisciplinary approach to policy research is built on three pillars: theory, computation and experimentation. CSTEP is also developing scientific tools and models for policy research and analyses, including computer-based simulations of socio-economic and technology systems that enable it to explore a wide range of policy options.
