Events in Nairobi
Dates: May 19 - 20 and May 21 -22, 2014
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
In collaboration with TTI think tank, Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC), and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), the Think Tank Initiative is convening two back-to-back events in Nairobi, this May:
1) Roundtable: Strengthening Research Quality for Policy Engagement in Africa, May 19-20
Bringing together African think tanks and policy stakeholders, the purpose of this roundtable is to identify key capacity development needs of African research institutions for research quality. It will explore opportunities for awareness-raising and capacity-building in different and complementary research approaches and methodologies.
The outcomes of this event will enable think tanks to conduct a more detailed self-assessment of their current capacity to produce quality research, and identify areas for follow-up support from TTI and donors.

2) Conference: Think Tank and University relationships - finding the synergies, May 21-22
This conference marks the conclusion of three TTI-commissioned studies examining the relationships between think tanks and universities. Research teams studying Africa, Latin America and South Asia will attend to share their research findings with peers and stakeholders. The ensuing discussions will explore lessons regarding the complementarity of this relationship and will help identify enabling structures and mechanisms and how to capitalise on them, for think tanks, universities, donors and stakeholders alike.
