Date: March 13-15, 2014
Location: Delhi, India
Description: The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and IDRC’s Think Tank Initiative are hosting a 3-day conference. This conference aims to improve the role and status of social sciences in informed policy making in South Asia and South East Asia. It will examine the supply of research and the suitability and usefulness of research in these countries. It is also a chance to discuss the region’s research capacity, including aspects related to financing, institutional frameworks, and the delivery of high quality research.
It is anticipated that over 200 policy stakeholders and research funders will participate, including: research granting councils, international/bilateral donors, think tanks, government stakeholders, university scholars, private/public philanthropists, and media.
This event is meant to encourage future partnerships, including the future development of an Association of Social Science Research Councils and Think Tanks and Research Institutions of Asia. Rapporteurs will capture key points and recommendations in a conference report.
