The Think Tank Initiative Exchange 2015 (TTIX 2015) saw nearly 200 participants, including think tanks, policymakers, donors, and research-to-policy actors, come together to explore perspectives under the theme of “Research Quality: Approaches, Outreach and Impact.”
Representatives of the 43 TTI-funded think tanks had the opportunity to meet with donors, key likeminded stakeholders, and policymakers including Penda Mbow, Minister-Advisor to the Senegalese Presidency, Tanzanian MP Zitto Kabwe, Costa Rican ex-Minister of Education Leonardo Garnier, Canadian Ambassador to Turkey John Holmes, and Ajay Mathur from the Government of India.
Over three days, attendees shared perspectives on how high-quality research can lead to think tank impact, as well as knowledge on how think tanks are ensuring rigour and quality research while maintaining policy relevance. Through discussions on a range of different approaches, methods, and tools for strengthening research quality, participants had an opportunity to share experiences, explore potential areas for collaboration, and discuss capacity development needs.
